Service with the Royal Flying Corps

After being discharged from the Prince of Wales Hospital, William was issued a rail warrant to join the Royal Flying Corp (R.F.C.) at Reading in Berkshire on 13th February 1918 (see Appendix 4.0). It is not known if William requested to be attached to the R.F.C. or the Army thought that his skills were suited to a job in the R.F.C., as his trench feet made it unsuitable for him to return to the trenches.
